PBR is a leading Canadian laboratory providing quality bioanalytical and contract research services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, environmental, food, natural health products and petrochemical industries and public sector clients. PBR specializes in cellular and genetic toxicology, microbiology and biotechnology in general as applied to drug development, product safety and efficacy evaluation, and screening for pathogens in food and water and mold in the indoor environment. Abich (Biological and Chemical Analysis) is a research and analysis company who was born developing innovative biotechnological methods to test the safety of use and efficacy of cosmetics, medical devices, drugs, textiles and chemical substances in general.
These tests employ cell cultures, skin and reconstructed tissues in vitro to simulate the reactions of the skin and human epithelia in order to study the biological activity and toxicological profile of products intended for topical human use. Our in vitro skin sensitization test panel has been developed through a scientific collaboration with the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Immunology of San Raffaele Hospital (see www.alltox.it). The in vitro testing facility got Health Ministery GLP approval in 2012.
These activities were then further expanded with fully equipped microbiological and analytical chemistry divisions currently under GMP approval process.
To complete the services range for its clients, Abich has also implemented a cosmetic and clinical testing division in three laboratory facilities (two in Italy and one in Canada) specifically dedicated to safety and efficacy testing on healthy volunteers.
A collaboration with a CRO (Latis srl, Genova) has been implemented to cover medical devices, supplements and phase 2 clinical trials.
